Happy Father's Day

Happy father's day! I am pretty proud of myself so far this year. I am the worst at getting people gifts but this year I have been pretty on top of it. Gifts are especially difficult with Tyler. His birthday, our anniversary and father's day all fall in the same week! Last year, since I had just had a baby, I did not do much for any of these occasions. This year I nailed all 3! Oh yeah!

Saturday night came and I did not have anything ready for Father's Day. Thanks to the glory of Pinterest, Ted and I were able to come up with a cute gift idea. The large dot is Ted's thumb and the small dot is Ted's pointer finger.

He HATED me for making him do it. I attribute this to the fact that it was 9 PM by the time I had all the supplies ready to go.

Anyway, Tyler is an awesome dad.

Ted came to his first Pug Gala this year woo hoo :) I entered him and Ruby into the costume competition. They went as Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox and got second place!

Ted also got to be on a website collage for child car seat safety. Can you find him?

I tried getting a cute picture of Ted and I have decided you need two people to catch Ted in a cute pose. I will get him all ready to go and by the time I put my camera up he is already walking away.
He kept making this face which is super cute but not a very good smile face hahaha
I decided this was the best shot
Yesterday we went to our friend's house for a play date. We walked and Ted fell asleep right as we got to the house. I woke him up and he had a lot of fun. It was actually nice because afterwards he stayed awake the entire walk home so when we got home he took a very long nap.

For Ted's birthday, Aunt Miranda sewed  him this really cute bear. He loves to wrestle it.

After he was done wrestling he fell asleep on the floor, which is a first.

Last weekend Tyler was feeling super sick. He came inside and just flopped onto the floor. Ted did his best to snuggle with daddy. He also crawled over and patty daddy on the head and climbed onto his back.

Ted Turns 1

Ted had his first birthday. I did not take any pictures during the party, mostly because I was to lazy and I hoped other people would take pictures and just send them to me... which they did. We just invited family over and had a BBQ. The most memorable part of the evening was Ted grabbing the fire in his candle while we sand happy birthday. I think my grabbing his hand super fast scared him more than anything the fire did to him. I have never seen a baby just reach out and grad the flame. What a pyro, he gets that from Tyler.

You can kind of tell from the picture that the cake was a bear. His birthday was bear theme. :)

Here is a picture after the fire incident. Ted was crying until I gave him his cupcake, he was just great after that.

Lesson 231: Adventures with Ted, being a stay at home mom :)

I absolutely LOVE being a stay at home mom. I guess it is more like a work at home mom since I will be running a home daycare. (Don't even get me started on that subject... )

I could not ask for anything greater than being able to stay at home with my baby. Ted is just the cutest cuddliest little baby and in under a month he will be a year old and no longer a "baby" he will be a TODDLER! Ahh.

Even though we are trying so hard to pinch pennies, I broke down and bought Ted a couple little toys from the Disney Store. He got a Doug and Kevin from the movie Up. As soon as we got home Ted was playing with his little Doug toy and squealing with delight. He has no pants on because I was about to change his diaper.
We went to Bellevue Square mall which is the richy mall. It is fun looking at fancy baby clothes that I would never buy. There was this one store that was like Swedish or something baby clothes. They had this ridiculously adorable baby hat.  If I was willing to spend $14 on it I totally would have bought it.
I different store has super adorable Easter outfits and I really wanted to get something for Ted there too... :)
I mentioned before not to get me started on getting the daycare up and running well here is one reason why... We are putting in a new room and door downstairs, in order to do this we have to compensate for the heat loss. We will do this by adding insulation in the attic. But because we found bird nests and rat poo in the attic we had to take all the insulation out and then we will have to fumigate and replace the insulation. We rented a special huge vacuum to suck out the insulation. We had to buy these huge bags and a trailer to haul this all to the dump. Oh and we have to have a tow hitch put on our van. Nothing is simple.

Anyway, here is a picture of Tyler about to get down to work up in the attic.
On a more pleasant note, we had our first family trip to the park. It was fun :)

Ted recently discovered the joy of pulling toilet paper off the roll. With 3 creatures in the house who are bound and determined to pull toilet paper off the roll, Tyler and I are outnumbered. We do not stand a chance.
Ted after he just woke up from a nap. Why I love being home with Ted!

Lesson 230: Baby's First Easter

Ted had his first Easter. I had this cute idea in my head for pictures. A lot of times when something is cute in my head it is not so cute in real life... I found bunny ears at Goodwill and I was going to take pictures with Ted and the dogs wearing them. I kept putting off taking the pictures until one morning I just sat everyone down and snapped some shots. This is what came of it.

Max was the worst of the three with not keeping the ears on. Ruby was probably the best hahaha. That may be because her defense mechanism for things she does not like is to freeze and make herself as small as possible.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday. Ted had a super cute outfit and I did not take a single picture of him. Before church in the morning I must have bumped his face because I looked at him and all of the sudden he had a cut right under his eye. He never even cried. So I did not feel like taking a picture of Ted with him looking like he was in a fight.

I have decided there is an unwritten rule in the kid universe that says when they are going to get their picture taken for a big event they must injure themselves in some way to have it forever capture in a photo.

Lesson 229: The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing

In order to get a childcare license I first need the fire department come to my house to check things out
So I called the fire department and they said:

In order for them to come to my house I first need a business license
So I started the process for getting a business license and they said:

In order to get a business license I first need a child care license.

Do you see the problem here?

I think there was some mis-communication going on here. I was pretty much going crazy a this point yesterday but I possibly figured out what the problem was. The fire department visit is just something where the fire captain comes to your home to talk about how to get out in case of a fire. This is different than a fire inspection which takes place after you are a licensed business.

Sigh.... and so we press forward.

Tyler is working on getting the building permit.

Lesson 228: St Patrick's Day and Daycare Update...

Ted and his first St. Patrick's Day. :)

If Tyler and my marriage can survive getting the house licensed to do daycare, we can survive ANYTHING. Saturday Tyler had his dad and brother come over to help install the new door. After cutting into the wall they found 3 wires so we will need a building permit and to have an electrician come in. They decided to get to work on the back fence that is rotting away thanks to our neighbors planting hedges along the perimeter of their yard.

A note to all home owners. If you have this grand idea of lining your yard with hedges. DON'T! It will not look as cool as you think it will and all it does is crowd your yard and eat away at the fence. They did get the fence fixed. Check that off the list.

I was not home when they were going through all this. I had to help my sister move. After I got home Tyler and I went to Home Depot to buy some more things for the daycare. One of the things we bought was a new toilet seat. It is a fancy one that has a built in child's seat and it closes slowly so you don't have to worry about the seat or lid dropping down really hard. I am pretty excited about this toilet seat hahaha. Plus, there is something so fantastic about a brand spanking new and clean toilet seat.

Yesterday, Tyler and I stayed up until midnight working on putting together a family child care policy handbook. Yes, this too is part of getting licensed and there is a huge list of items that must be included. We did not finish but we are close. I also have to create 2 more policy handbooks and an emergency manual.

This week Tyler has a friend coming over who just completely remodeled his house and this weekend he has another friend coming over who is a licensed electrician. So Tyler is pretty awesome!
