Lesson 227: Around the world in 60 days

** The last post featured the completed childcare room... yeah right**

After attending the 3 hour orientation on Wed to get my home licensed to do daycare I about had a panic attack. I was literally beginning to hyperventilate as I rushed home from the meeting to get Ted and head off to work for the day. (The meeting got out late so I was late for work blah).

From March 12, 2014 (the day of the meeting) I have 60 days to get all my necessary paperwork and inspections done.

Also from March 12 I have 90 days to get completely licensed, or I will have to restart the entire process!

This may sound simple enough BUT at the meeting I discovered a ton of things that need to be changed. There are so many things we need to get done that I don't think I can give a full list. Some major things include (but are most certainly not limited to):

Moving a wall in the downstairs room
Installing a door to the outside (so there are 2 exits to the outside)
Tearing down the play set
Fixing the fence
Getting a business license
Having the fire department come do an inspection
Getting our wood burning stove cleaned and inspected
Creating a boat load of forms and booklets for my business

Tyler is all over this. He has been amazing all throughout this process and I have no idea how I even deserve him. Seriously, it is a mystery.

After the meeting on Wednesday, as I was melting down, I called Tyler and started lifting off the things I need to do and the things I need to get fixed. One of the things was that I need 6 sleeping mats. By the time I got to work I had received an email confirmation for an order for 6 sleeping mats.

The next day (yesterday) I told him our stove needs to be inspected. He called me back 10 minutes later and said a guy is scheduled to come out. When I got home last night he told me a man is coming tomorrow (today) to grind up all the stumps in the backyard. When he called me this morning to say the stump guy was all done he also added that he already tore down the play set. WOW! We might actually be able to get all this done!!!!

Say a prayer for us because divine intervention will definitely be required.

Lesson 224: How to make over a house to become a child care

As I mentioned before, I am working on being able to do childcare out of our house. We finished the downstairs and it looks so cute!

The play kitchen is from Goodwill and is one of the contributing factors to me wanting a van. I went to Goodwill in our little car and found this. Thinking it would fit in my car I bought it and dragged it out into the parking lot. It did not fit. In my defense, if I did not have Ted with me I could have made it fit. So I had to call around to all my friends with vans. Luckily my sister-in-law was able to bring her van to drive the kitchen home for me. She had to pick up her son from school first though which meant I had to hang out in the parking lot for 30 minutes. It was a public display of my inability to judge size. Thank goodness it was a sunny day.

The wall decal came from Amazon and is so cute! I love it!
Please disregard the dog bed. It will not be remaining when we actually have kids over. This is just for the time being because this is the room the dogs hang out in when we are not home.

Lesson 223: We are now... VAN PEOPLE

We bought a van! I am going to start childcare from our home and we came to the realization that if I watched more than one kid (not including Ted) I would not be able to drive anywhere. We spent all day President's Day looking around at different car lots. We ended up with this beauty. I told Tyler we should name it. He suggested Fanny the Vanny hahaha. Much to Tyler's dismay, the name stuck. He wishes he had not suggested that name.

In other news: Ted had his first Valentine's Day. He is holding his card from Grandma and Grandpa Mann. And he is wearing his shirt from Aunt Elspeth. In the lower picture he is wearing his bib from Grandma Opfar.

Along with getting a van I also wanted to make the downstairs former "man cave" look more like the  playroom it is going to become. Tyler kept telling me I had to do all the painting by myself. Apparently I was not doing it right :)
Ted likes to look through my zumba fitness box DVD set :)
Ted now has 6 teeth.
I am ashamed to say I used Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to occupy Ted while I made dinner one night. It was late, Ted was super hungry and I was rushing around to get food ready to go. I am also ashamed to say I really like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. My nephew Cooper used to watch it and I love all the songs hahaha.

Lesson 222: Fill up on the good stuff

I have been on a mission lately to make sure what I watch and listen to is good and uplifting. On the drive to and from work I play the Mormon Channel radio station on my phone. Since I have music playing all day while I am at work I enjoy getting to listen to something other than music. It has a ton of great stories, interesting talks and historical information. I especially love the short commercial breaks with their "Family, isn't it about time?" dialogues.

While Ted and I eat breakfast I like to put on the Mormon messages videos. It is a nice way to start the day. I have to be careful though because some of those videos are real tear jerkers, and in the morning I am a lot more tired and emotional hahaha.

Since I started this I have noticed it gets easier to remember to do other things. I remember to say my prayers and read my scriptures a little more often than before.

It reminded me of a conversation I had with my friend Jenae a while ago. I was lamenting how hard it is to diet and eat healthy with all this junk food around the house. Jenae suggested that when she wants to eat healthy instead of just throwing out all the stuff in her house she instead stocks up on healthy food. That way you have more opportunity to reach for the good stuff.

By filling up on "healthy" media my mind is more inclined to only want more healthy things in it. And instead of using my time to stress about all the bad media out there. I can spend my time seeking out good things.

Lesson 221: Daddy has a scratchy face

I just love this picture hahaha. Tyler, Ted and I were waiting at the salon and I tried taking a picture of Ted with Daddy. This is the face Ted made when Ty tried to snuggle up to baby.
Tyler said, that is okay, we can just take a picture where we are pensively looking at each other.
