Lesson 168: Baby is breech

No this is not a drawing of a tush, it is a uterus with a baby in it of course. I copied what the ultrasound tech drew in my chart after my doctor appointment today. While trying to avoid TMI in this post, baby is in breech position and, because of the shape of my uterus, that means an almost certain C-section will be scheduled. Normally a baby has the entire space to flip around and get himself ready to get the heck out of there. Ted does not have this option.

Oh and as I left the office, the doctor took a look at my weight and ankle swelling and said, No Salt For You!

This is going to be a long 5 weeks.

This picture has nothing to do with anything, I just like pugs and looking at pugs makes me happy :)

Lesson 167: How to deal with pain

Tyler and I have been taking a birthing class and last week was a lot about techniques to deal with PAIN. Each lady was given a zip-lock bag of ice to hold in her hand to simulate contraction pain. While holding the ice we tried different techniques to distract from the pain. We did things like slow breathing, looking at a picture, getting a massage, walking around, and smelling lavender (which I hate, so it had kind of an opposite effect on me).

My FAVORITE was looking at a picture. Tyler pulled out his phone and Googled "pugs in the sun" and this picture came up.

I could not stop laughing the entire time. I was probably distracting the other ladies in the room from focusing on their own photos but I certainly was not thinking about the pain.

Lesson 166: A weekend trip

Tyler surprised me last week with a plane ticket to visit my sister and her family in Utah for the weekend. It was meant to be one last mini vacation before baby arrives. I have about 8 weeks left so flying is still alright but my Ob printed out my medical records for me... just in case.

I arrived on Thursday evening and stayed up late catching up with Miranda. Friday was spent completely driving to Vegas to pick up the kids and driving right back. Here is a picture from the car window. Vegas was SO HOT I did not mind getting the heck out of there. I am just a pacific northwest girl.

Sadly I did not take any other pictures while I was there. Saturday the kids did a mini Easter egg hunt in the apartment, we went to a movie and I got to go shopping for 4 hours with Miranda :) And no trip to Utah (or CA or NV) is complete without going to In N Out burger.

I stole this picture from my sister's blog. The Easter bunny brought Ted a basket.

I took a picture of my family before I left for the airport.

Ruby finished her obedience class yesterday. This is a terrible picture of her but a funny one of Max. For their final class all the dogs had to learn a trick to perform for everyone. All the other dogs did "shake". Ruby impressed with her ability to spin on command. :)

Lesson 164: a day at the dog show

These pictures are all out of order....

This past weekend my mom and I spent the day up in Seattle at the Kennel Club Dog Show.

We saw the disc dog demonstration.
My all time favorite demonstration was the duck herding dogs. Oh my goodness, there is nothing as cute as a border collie or Australian shepherd herding around three little ducks. They had to weave the ducks through the cones, over a little bridge and eventually into a pen. Imagine Babe with ducks instead of sheep.

That night Tyler and I went to Maggianos in Bellevue. It was really amazing food and so much fun to go on a date with my husband. :)
The dog show was at the CenturyLink Field Event center.
Another demonstration was the dancing dogs. This is a rescue hairless mix dog wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Yes I think dog dancing is ridiculous and yes I stayed to watch the entire thing. Come on, it's dogs.
Another picture of duck herding!
There was also agility going on the entire time.

Aww so cute!!!

We made a point to see the pug dog competition of course. Did you know they remove the whiskers from the show pugs? I guess beauty really is pain, yikes.
What a pug apparently SHOULD look like :)

Lesson 163: Third Trimester

At the request of my sister I took a pregnancy picture to send to her. She asked me for one a couple weeks ago but I am the worst at remembering to do things. This is the reason it was taken in line at a Walmart.

Yesterday marked the beginning of the THIRD TRIMESTER whoot whoot! There is something to be said about the 3rd trimester. There is a lot less guilt. In my second trimester I worried about gaining too much weight, about my rings not fitting, and about how no matter what happens it will only get worse because this it only the 2nd trimester! Now that I am in the last leg I feel much less pressure to worry about things because hey, I'm in my last trimester :) (P.S. yes the rings are off. I made it official yesterday)

And Tyler felt the baby kick for the first time yesterday. He has been wanting to for a while to the point where he will push really hard on my belly and I will have to remind him that I am still attached to my stomach and THAT HURTS! hahaha.

162: Ruby's first day of obedience and getting nursery ready

To start off here is a picture of Ruby with a gun powder horn. She is doing her best nonchalant hombre face.

This is an old picture. It is from the beginning of January on the day we found out we are having a boy.

This is about... ummm... 22 weeks?

Tyler putting together our new baby crib.

 Max and Ruby being adorable.
 Tyler being adorable.
Ruby's first day of dog obedience. We worked on sit, stay, controlled walking, and come. Ruby did very well even though she was very shy about being with so many other dogs.
