Lesson 121: Tyler's B-day and our 1 year anniversary!!!

We have been married for a year now! Wahoo! It is pretty exciting. It is even more exciting to think about life one year ago and our lives now, and of course Tyler completely kicked my tush in the celebration department. For his birthday we went to the movies and I got his some "How I Met Your Mother" themed gifts.

For our anniversary Tyler surprised me with a huge bouquet of flowers, "How I Met Your Mother" seasons (we are kind of obsessed right now), a gift card to Nordstrom (bwa ha ha) and some weight loss stuff that I was on the fence about getting. He is just super amazing. And a cutie so that is good too. :)

Here are some pics from Tyler's birthday. We started with a pancake breakfast. You can see the pineapple which went with the HIMYM theme.

And then we did some driving around (and by some I mean A LOT). We went and saw "Snow White and the Huntsman". Awwww :)  (I am saying aww to Tyler's pic not to the movie)
Here is the giant bouquet Tyler got for me. I love it so much I wish I would have brought it into work with me.

Lesson 120: A great doggie update

Tyler called the shelter and the owners have claimed their little lost babies. :) I am so happy. I don't know if our fliers and internet posts did anything but I am so happy the pit and chi were reunited with their owners!

As for the dog we found last night, Tyler called the lady who took him home and she dropped him off at the shelter today. She mentioned that he can be a bit aggressive with her other dogs. This means the dog would be a no go for our pooches. Max and Ruby can be in-your-face-pills and if a big dog is not patient I am sure it would end up eating our dogs. I hope he finds a good home.

Lesson 119: Another day another dog rescue

Dogs have been causing me so much stress lately and I am not just referring to Max and Ruby reclaiming their spots in our bed at night. We found yet another dog out in the world alone last night. It just kills me thinking about these poor pups and how I can't take them all in.

On our way to a family birthday party we came across a dog running back and forth a busy highway. Tyler pulled over and with the help of another lady who pulled over her SUV and a young man who had been skateboarding by, we set to work wrangling the collarless pooch. Even a girl in the nearby coffee stand offered up some treats to lure in the dog. A neighbor was outside and we asked if he had a dog leash we could borrow. It took a while but we finally calmed the dog down and loaded him into the lady's car. She wanted badly to keep him but already has 3 dogs. Tyler also wanted to keep him but I reminded him that we also already have 2 dogs. So stressful.... :( The lady said that if her husband said they can't keep the dog then she would take him to the shelter. We exchanged phone numbers....

Tyler got a pic of the dog on his phone but he does not have pic messaging. He looked almost like a rottweiler/pit bull mix, all black and short with a super sweet personality.

Oh, and last night we posted fliers about the pit bull and chihuhua that came to our home last weekend. In total we walked those two dogs around looking for the owner twice, took them to the shelter, posted 2 ads on Craiglist, posted a message on Facebook, and hung fliers. There is nothing more I can do but just hope and pray they either find their owners or a good home takes them in.

Like I said, so stressed.

I guess he kind of looked like this but no brown and dirty

Lesson 118: Is this your dog? Not anymore.

Yesterday Tyler and I were watching an episode of "Big Bang Theory" where Sheldon overcomes his fear of birds and in fact wants to make a stray bird that showed up at his window his own pet. His friend suggests they put up signs to find the owner to which Sheldon responds they can put up a sign with the bird's picture and write, "Is this your bird? Not anymore." :)

Tyler and I had a dog adventure this past weekend when two pups showed up at our home at 11PM. Animals must know ours is an animal friendly environment. It was a pit bull and a chihuahua who were friends. Fortunately the pit had a licence. UNfortunately the info associated with the licence is a non-working number. In summation we walked the dogs all around our neighborhood that night and the next day in an attempt to find anyone looking for their super friendly dogs. We let them have a sleep over with us. Then we took them to the shelter to see about finding the owner. It was a very sad parting. :( I hope they are alright. And of course we are going to call in a couple days to see how they are doing.

Lesson 115: Trimming the tree

What was supposed to be just a day of cleaning up branches turned into trimming the out of control tree in the front yard. It was like tweezing eye brow hairs. You just keep seeing one more hair (branch) that could go.
I am pretty sure this is how a professional gets the job done.
